Good software starts with why
Hi there. I'm Chris. A Software Engineer based in Yorkshire, UK. I'm Head of Engineering at Social Sync, and also look after a select number of clients alongside that.
Software Engineering in the modern AI world is a wild ride, but guiding principles remain the same. These are my notes from along the way, written down to help make sense of it all.
- Software Engineering
- Project Management
- Information Security
- Engineering Leadership
- Project Delivery
Making complex clear
I've been building software for a long time. The best projects I've worked on had one thing in common: shared understanding, built through good planning and good comms. Everyone knew what we were building and why before anyone wrote any code. However the code gets written today, knowing what to build and why matters more than ever.
At Social Sync I lead the Engineering Team, living this belief. Alongside that I work with a select number of clients, usually as the technical partner to help turn an idea into a plan, and the plan into something that works.

You should prototype things more
Consider prototyping more in your project discovery toolkit. I don't think we do it enough, and it's often where you learn the best lessons.
