I want everyone to be able to use this site, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
What I aim for
The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and it is checked with automated tools and by hand at desktop and phone sizes. In particular:
Everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus and a link to skip to the main content.
Text has enough contrast to read, and the layout holds up when zoomed to 200%.
Pages use proper headings and landmarks, and images have text alternatives where they carry meaning.
Animation, including the falling shapes on the homepage, stays still if your device asks for reduced motion.
Known issues
Some orange text on the homepage is below the recommended contrast at its size.
On phones, the strip of words under the homepage introduction scrolls on its own. It pauses while you touch it, and stays still with reduced motion turned on.
Older Journal posts were moved from a previous site, and some images in them may lack full descriptions.
Tell me about a problem
If something on the site doesn't work for you, please email me at the address in the footer, saying what you were trying to do and what you were using. I'll reply, and fix what I can.
